Why OnlyCrypto Uses XRP for Every Payment

Divinity min read

The Problem with Traditional Payments

When a platform pays out to hundreds of members around the world, traditional banking creates real problems:

  • Wire transfers take 1-5 business days
  • International transfers carry fees of $15-$50 per transaction
  • Banks can freeze accounts, reverse transactions, or require documentation
  • There's no transparency — you can't verify a payment happened without waiting for a bank statement

Most platforms accept these constraints as the cost of doing business. OnlyCrypto doesn't.

Why XRP?

When we were designing OnlyCrypto's payment infrastructure, we needed something that could handle:

  1. Speed — members should receive payouts fast, not days later
  2. Low cost — sending $7 in referral commissions shouldn't cost $15 in fees
  3. Transparency — every payment should be independently verifiable
  4. Global reach — members and traders are worldwide, not just in the US

XRP checks every box.

XRP by the Numbers

| Metric | XRP | Bitcoin | Bank Wire | |---|---|---|---| | Settlement time | 3-5 seconds | 10-60 minutes | 1-5 days | | Average fee | ~$0.001 | $1-$50+ | $15-$50 | | Requires bank account | No | No | Yes | | On-chain verifiable | Yes | Yes | No |

How the XRP Ledger Works

The XRP Ledger (XRPL) is a decentralized blockchain that has been running continuously since 2012. It's maintained by a global network of validators — independent servers that agree on the state of every account and transaction.

When you pay your membership on OnlyCrypto, here's what happens:

  1. You send XRP from your wallet to OnlyCrypto's hot wallet
  2. The transaction is broadcast to the XRPL network
  3. Validators reach consensus — this takes 3-5 seconds
  4. The transaction is finalized and permanently recorded on-chain
  5. Our system detects the confirmed transaction and activates your membership

No banks. No intermediaries. No waiting.

Destination Tags

If you hold XRP on an exchange (Coinbase, Kraken, Binance, etc.), your wallet uses a destination tag — a number that tells the exchange which account is yours on their shared wallet.

OnlyCrypto fully supports destination tags. Your wallet address might look like rXXXXXXX:123456 — the number after the colon is your tag. Our system handles this format automatically.

Transparency You Can Verify

Every payout OnlyCrypto makes is on-chain. You can verify any transaction by searching the transaction hash on the XRPL explorer at xrpscan.com or xrpl.org/explorer.

Inside your admin panel (for admins) and your payout history (for members), every payment shows a direct link to the XRPL transaction. This isn't something you have to trust us on — you can verify it yourself.

XRP Is Not "Crypto Speculation"

A common misconception: using XRP means we're betting on XRP going up. We're not.

OnlyCrypto uses XRP as a payment rail — a fast, cheap way to move value. We don't hold large XRP reserves for speculation. We use it the way you'd use a wire transfer, except it's instant and costs almost nothing.

Getting an XRP Wallet

To join OnlyCrypto, you need an XRP wallet. Options include:

  • Exchange wallets (Coinbase, Kraken, Binance) — easiest to get started, but you don't control the private key
  • XUMM (Xaman) — the recommended self-custody XRP wallet app, mobile-first
  • Ledger hardware wallet — best for large amounts, maximum security

Once you have a wallet, fund it with enough XRP to cover your membership + a small amount for transaction fees (a few cents worth).
